Which came first, the chicken or the egg? is a well-known question with countless possible explanations. Similar questions are asked in Kokan, Is the cashew Apple a Stalk or a Fruit? However, Malvani people prefer to enjoy the delicious food that comes from it rather than getting bogged down in difficult questions.

When I was in school, my friends and I, a group of five or six, used to spy on the cashew tree in the morning and sneak into the garden in the evenings after school and bring cashew apples. Then, we chopped the cashew apples at random and added some masala and salt. Those were the days of true enjoyment. I saw these Cashew apples in a Malvan Market today, and they brought back a lot of memories. I contacted all of my friends after bringing those, and we had a great group conversation, but the true fun was getting to see them in person.

The cashew apple is a delicious fruit with a nutty flavor. Given that both ends have naturally occurring gum, we must make sure to cut off the top and bottom portions when eating them raw.
