Description

Kokan region is identified for its Local Rice and Coconuts. Poha is made by flattening the Rice. We are going to see Malvani Kande Pohe which is one of the popular breakfast option in Malvan.

  1. Turn on the flame medium low to heat the Kadhai.

  2. Add some Oil to Kadhai.
  3. Once Oil became hot, add chopped Ginger to it.
  4. Simultaneously with Chopped Ginger add Mustard seeds
  5. Once you hear crackling sound from Mustard seeds immediately add Cumin seeds (Gently rub the Cumin seeds by hands to get some extra flavor
  6. Before Cumin seeds change their color add the finely sliced Onion.
  7. Before Onion changes its color, add finally chopped Green Chili and Curry Leaves and mix it well.
  8. Before Onion turns from Crisp to Moist, add Salt to taste and add some Sugar and put the plate over Kadhai for 10-15 seconds.
  9. Add pinch of Asafoetida and Turmeric Powder and mix it well.
  10. Now add Pohe to it and mix it Gently. (Pohe should be washed properly and have to remove white starch from it, they should properly moist)
  11. Now add some Ghee.
  12. Add Chopped Coriander.
  13. Add Fresh Grate Coconut to it (Without grated coconut "The Malvani Flavor will not come). It is must ingredient.
  14. Add some Lemon Juice and close it for 5 minutes.
  15. Serve the Hot Malvani Kande Pohe to everyone.
